ACKnet was started towards the beginning of March....however, it
was not opened to the public until March 24, 2001.
Shortly after we opened up to the public, we needed to find
better channel services and operator services....this presented a
problem. This is around the time when NeatO joined our
team....he was planning on creating services from scratch to use as
our Channel and Operator services.
X9 was the original Channel Bot he was in the process of making,
however....I lost touch with him, and have not seen him for a
while.....So Gowron and I talked about running his services (CX) off
of our network....This was great! However, things did not work
the way we had planned...CX was having troubles running off of my
servers....and we could not get him to work.....hmmm, we
thought.....and we thought some more....then Gowron came up with the
brilliant idea of merging our networks...while retaining our
individualities, yet sharing our services and userload. It
offered more ways for users to get to each of our networks and it
gave us services to work with.
ACKnet then became part of Chat-Net's Network....it
was fun...however, didn't work out, yet again!
Today, ACKnet has spent over a year building up our OWN
services...written by the eleet NeatO (Thanks for all his help and
hard work). We have moved our very stable server to ACKnet
(Edison*)...and have linked several servers as we grow...and now
have an extremely stable network with AWESOME services!
